Yolande and Marina

As it says at the very top of this blog, it covers anything that I think is interesting; hence today’s post.

Yesterday I saw news that, after a cold case review, a man had been arrested for the murder of Yolande Waddington. I was so relieved to hear this news after 45 years. She and I went to school together, we were in the same class and she was a friend of mine. You can imagine how shocked I was at that time when we heard about her murder, so it’s very good indeed to hear that, at long last, someone has been arrested for it. You can read the article about the story here.

It’s very strange but unfortunately she wasn’t the only friend that I had murdered. Another was a girl I was at finishing school with a year after Yolande’s sad death. We were only there for a year, and she had come from the USA. Her name was Marina Habe and, back in Hollywood, she was a victim of the infamous Manson family. You can read about that murder here.

Perhaps friendship with me carries some type of curse, but over the years I’ve had many family and friends die in sad circumstances – from suicide to murder, and most causes in between. Those causes also include the Hungerford Massacre, which if you’ve not heard of it, or have forgotten about it, you can read here. I was very closely involved in that case and, amongst other things, knew the perpetrator and his mother.

At the last count the number of deaths close to me was around 27 people. It seems that being a friend of mine carries it risks!
