Yesterday I saw a link to a YouTube video that purported to have found a man-made (or maybe alien-made) secret base on Mars. As one would expect, it seems the video has now gone viral. On clicking the link (here) again today it comes up with the message that the video has been removed. However, it has now reappeared and you can watch it here, as long as it doesn’t do another disappearing act!
Personally, I don’t for one moment believe that it’s anything real. And there is a good article on space.com that gives the reasons why this is probably nothing more than: “simply a glitch in the image caused by cosmic energy interfering with the camera.” You can read that one here.
Hmm! Well, I don’t know about the science behind cosmic energy and cameras, but the video has certainly produced some interesting comments. So why not check it out while it's still around.

unfortunately, the site you are directing people to (the second time) is stealing Mr Martines content, and yes, it will soon do a disappearing act, as google will be taking it down, but it would be nice if you could replace it with the real owners site.Check it out for yourself at youtube /thecalifornian Thank you!!!!

Why is this bloke Martines claiming ownership anyway, when all he did was point his video camera at his monitor? If it belongs to anybody it would be NASA, or Google, or ESA, or whoever took the image; either that or we will be getting a writ from the Galactic Emperor in a few thousand years.

Im David Martines the creator of the youtube video Bio Station Alpha. It is true that I have been removing my video from un-authorized sites. True NASA owns the maps, and Google owns Google Earth, but my copyright involves me filming (externally) with my voice as audio, the combination of the two, and not trying to rip googles tour feature (which they don't want you to do).

I understand that people think this is important and feel because of it's significance that it is ok to repost without permission. However, I also am moved by other's videos, but I wont repost based on my own desire to drive people to my site in the name of science, or whatever. If you go to my site, you will find more videos by me that are also note-worthy and relevant. I continue to explore Mars and work in good faith with Google, and for my honesty, they treat me with respect, and work to protect my intellectual property. And they will do the same for you.
